FREE COMMUNITY WORKSHOPS - OCTOBER 16

De-Escalation: Turning Conflict into Connection

We've all been there. A small disagreement turns into a conflict and your fight, flight, freeze or fawn reaction kicks in. Or you are afraid to address conflict for fear of making it worse. Perhaps you avoid conflict all together.

In recognition of Conflict Resolution Day, we are offering people who live in Pierce County a no-cost, two-hour workshop so you can learn to recognize your power to flip the script when disagreements escalate into conflicts. The opportunity is open to everyone - teachers, coaches, parents, clergy, HOA leaders, managers, employees, students, and anyone else who wants to learn how to de-escalate disagreements and turn them into positive connections.

In the two hours, you will:

  • Explore how to self-regulate when feelings and emotions escalate
  • Practice listening to understand the other perspective
  • Examine your choice of nonviolent behaviors that can interrupt the cycle of escalation and maximize connection with the other person

The workshops will take place on October 16 at these times:

  • 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. (In-person at 717 Tacoma Ave. S)
  • 2 to 4 p.m. (In-person at 717 Tacoma Ave. S)
  • 6 to 8 p.m. (Virtual)

Our goal is to provide tools for you to move from a place of fear or avoidance into one of empowerment.
